Presenting research at the Slovak–Japanese One-Day Session for Young Scholars in Applied Mathematics 2026

Last week, I had the opportunity to participate in the Slovak–Japanese One-Day Session for Young Scholars in Applied Mathematics 2026 at Meiji University, Ikuta Campus.

I presented my recent work, “Numerical Stability and Interpretability: A Hessian-Based Diagnosis of Physics-Informed Neural Network Formulations.”

Since my research lies at the intersection of continuum mechanics, computational mechanics, and scientific machine learning, it was particularly valuable to discuss these problems with researchers approaching them from an applied mathematics perspective. The conversations gave me several new ways of thinking about numerical stability, formulation, and the mathematical behavior of physics-informed learning methods.

The session brought together researchers from Meiji University and visiting scholars from the Slovak University of Technology through the Erasmus+ International Mobility Programme, together with participants from Tokyo Metropolitan University, Kanazawa University, Saitama University, Chiang Mai University, and other institutions.

I am grateful to the organizers and everyone I met for the stimulating discussions and exchanges. It was a pleasure meeting researchers from different fields and career stages, and I hope we will have another opportunity to meet again in the future!
